There are plenty of straightforward flash card apps on the App Store with basic features and modest customizability. Whats sets Flashcards Deluxe apart is the granular control over card content, organization, repetition for which I have found no substitute. For example, being able to combine multiple decks, flag and categorize cards, have cards with more than 2 "sides," have cards with HTML formatting, customize the "streak" until a card is mastered, or tweak the precise order and spaced repetition settings is tremendous. The app does have a learning curve, but for serious studiers it is absolutely worth $4. I would pay $20.
